Conflict of Interest Policy
1. General Policy
The Jurnal Riset Manajemen dan Bisnis Dewantara (JMD) is committed to maintaining transparency, objectivity, fairness, and integrity throughout the scholarly publishing process. A conflict of interest may arise when financial, professional, personal, or other relationships could improperly influence, or be perceived to influence, the conduct, interpretation, evaluation, or publication of research.
All authors, editors, and peer reviewers are required to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that may affect their responsibilities or judgment in the publication process. Full and transparent disclosure enables the journal to assess potential conflicts appropriately and helps maintain the credibility and integrity of published research.
2. Disclosure by Authors
Authors must disclose all relevant financial and nonfinancial relationships that could influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, their research or the interpretation of its findings. Such relationships may include employment, consultancy, honoraria, research grants, financial support, shareholdings, personal relationships, professional affiliations, competing academic interests, or other relevant circumstances.
Authors must ensure that all conflict-of-interest disclosures are complete, accurate, and included in the submitted manuscript. The existence of a conflict of interest does not automatically disqualify a manuscript from publication, provided that the conflict is appropriately disclosed and can be managed in accordance with the journal's policies.
3. Funding Sources and the Role of Sponsors
All sources of financial support for the research and manuscript preparation must be clearly identified. Authors should provide the name of the funding organization and, where applicable, the grant or project identification number.
Authors must explain the role of each funder or sponsor in the research design, data collection, data analysis, interpretation of findings, manuscript preparation, and the decision to submit the manuscript for publication. Authors should also clarify whether they had access to the relevant research data and whether the funder imposed any restrictions on data access, analysis, interpretation, or publication.
Where the funder had no involvement in these activities, authors may explicitly state this in the manuscript. Such declarations must accurately reflect the actual circumstances of the research.
Suggested statement when a conflict of interest exists:
“The authors declare the following conflict(s) of interest: [DESCRIBE THE RELEVANT FINANCIAL, PROFESSIONAL, PERSONAL, OR OTHER RELATIONSHIP].”
Suggested statement when no conflict of interest exists:
“The authors declare no conflict of interest.”
Suggested funding statement when the funder had no role in the research:
“This research was supported by [NAME OF FUNDING ORGANIZATION] under Grant No. [GRANT NUMBER, IF APPLICABLE]. The funder had no role in the study design, data collection, data analysis, interpretation of the findings, preparation of the manuscript, or the decision to submit the manuscript for publication.”
Suggested statement when no specific funding was received:
“This research received no specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.”
Authors must select and adapt the relevant statements to ensure that all disclosures accurately represent their research and financial support arrangements.
4. Responsibilities of Editors and Peer Reviewers
Editors and peer reviewers must disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that could compromise their independence, impartiality, or professional judgment.
Editors must not handle manuscripts in which they have financial, personal, institutional, professional, competitive, or collaborative relationships that could influence their editorial decisions. Where a conflict exists, the manuscript must be assigned to an appropriately independent editor.
Peer reviewers must disclose relevant conflicts of interest before undertaking a review. Reviewers should decline an assignment when their relationships or interests could prevent them from providing an objective and impartial assessment.
Editors and reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not use unpublished information for personal, professional, or financial advantage.
5. Editorial Assessment and Management of Conflicts of Interest
The JMD editorial team is responsible for assessing disclosed conflicts of interest and determining whether appropriate measures are necessary to protect the integrity of the editorial and peer-review processes.
Where necessary, the journal may request additional information or clarification from authors, editors, or reviewers. Relevant disclosures may be published alongside the article to ensure transparency for readers.
Failure to disclose a relevant conflict of interest, or the provision of inaccurate or misleading disclosure information, may result in appropriate editorial action in accordance with JMD's publication ethics policies.
Through this policy, the Jurnal Riset Manajemen dan Bisnis Dewantara (JMD) seeks to ensure that research evaluation and publication decisions are conducted fairly, transparently, and independently, thereby maintaining the credibility and integrity of its scholarly publications.
