Peer Review Process
The Jurnal Riset Manajemen dan Bisnis Dewantara (JMD) is committed to maintaining the quality, originality, and integrity of published research through a fair, objective, and rigorous peer-review process. The journal applies a blinded peer-review process to manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening. The process aims to ensure that published articles meet appropriate academic and ethical standards and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of knowledge in management and business.
1. Initial Editorial Screening
All submitted manuscripts are initially examined by the editorial team to assess their suitability for the journal's scope, compliance with the author guidelines, originality, and adherence to publication ethics standards.
Manuscripts that meet the initial requirements may proceed to peer review. Manuscripts that fall outside the journal's scope or fail to meet essential submission and ethical requirements may be returned to the authors or rejected before external review.
2. Peer Review and Evaluation Criteria
Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are evaluated by qualified reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject area. Reviewers assess the manuscript based on the following criteria:
-
Originality and Novelty: The extent to which the manuscript offers original insights, new findings, or meaningful contributions to existing knowledge.
-
Relevance and Scope: The alignment of the manuscript with JMD's focus on management, business, accounting, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, and related disciplines.
-
Research Methodology: The appropriateness, rigor, and transparency of the research design, data collection procedures, analytical methods, and interpretation of results.
-
Scientific and Practical Contribution: The significance of the findings for theoretical development, managerial practice, business decision-making, or future research.
-
Results and Conclusions: The consistency of the conclusions with the research objectives, analytical evidence, and reported findings.
-
References and Literature Review: The relevance, credibility, accuracy, and adequacy of cited scholarly sources.
-
Clarity and Presentation: The quality of academic writing, logical organization, and clarity of the arguments presented.
-
Research Integrity and Publication Ethics: The identification of potential plagiarism, redundant publication, questionable data, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or other ethical concerns.
3. Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers are expected to provide clear, objective, evidence-based, and constructive written feedback within the agreed review period. Their assessments should help authors improve the quality, rigor, clarity, and scholarly contribution of their manuscripts.
Reviewers must maintain a professional and respectful tone and avoid personal comments, discriminatory language, or criticism directed at the author rather than the scholarly content of the manuscript.
Reviewers must maintain strict confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts and related review materials. They must disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest and decline review assignments when they cannot provide an impartial assessment.
Reviewers should also identify relevant publications that have not been appropriately cited and promptly inform the editor of suspected plagiarism, substantial similarity to other published or submitted works, questionable research practices, or other potential breaches of publication ethics.
If a reviewer cannot complete an assessment within the agreed timeframe, the reviewer must notify the editor promptly. Where appropriate, the reviewer may recommend alternative qualified reviewers, although the final selection remains the responsibility of the editorial team.
4. Editorial Decisions and Manuscript Revisions
Based on the reviewers' reports, the manuscript's academic quality, and the journal's editorial policies, the editor may decide to:
-
Accept the manuscript for publication.
-
Request minor revisions.
-
Request major revisions.
-
Reject the manuscript.
Authors who are asked to revise their manuscripts must address the reviewers' comments and provide a clear response explaining the revisions made or the reasons for not adopting particular suggestions.
Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary. The final editorial decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief or the designated editor, taking into account the reviewers' recommendations and the manuscript's overall scholarly merit.
5. Quality Assurance and Research Integrity
JMD seeks to ensure that all published articles meet the journal's academic, methodological, and ethical standards. The peer-review process is intended to assess the reliability of the research, the adequacy of the evidence supporting the findings, and the extent to which the conclusions are justified by the methods and results presented.
Reviewers and editors must remain alert to potential errors, unsupported claims, methodological weaknesses, and ethical concerns that could compromise the credibility of a manuscript. Where necessary, the editorial team may request clarification, additional information, or further revisions before making a decision.
Peer review cannot guarantee the absence of errors in every published article. However, through careful evaluation, constructive feedback, and responsible editorial oversight, JMD aims to reduce the risk of publishing unreliable or ethically problematic research.
The Jurnal Riset Manajemen dan Bisnis Dewantara (JMD) is committed to ensuring that the peer-review process is conducted fairly, transparently, confidentially, and independently, thereby safeguarding the integrity of scholarly communication and promoting high-quality research in management and business.
