Peer Review Process

Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Riset Akuntansi dan Keuangan Dewantara (JAD) are initially evaluated by the editor to determine whether they are consistent with the journal's focus and scope and meet the basic requirements for peer review. The initial editorial assessment generally takes approximately one week.

Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are assigned to at least two independent peer reviewers through a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and relevance to the manuscript's subject, particularly in financial accounting, management accounting, taxation, auditing, capital markets, corporate finance, and related fields.

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript's originality, scientific and methodological rigor, relevance to the journal's scope, clarity of presentation, validity of data analysis, and contribution to the development of accounting and finance research. Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, and evidence-based comments to help authors improve their manuscripts.

The peer-review process generally takes approximately 4–6 weeks, although the actual duration may vary depending on reviewer availability, the complexity of the manuscript, and the number of review rounds required.

Based on the reviewers' recommendations and the editor's assessment, the editorial decision may be one of the following:

  1. Accepted: The manuscript is accepted for publication without further substantive revisions, subject to the journal's final editorial and production procedures.

  2. Revisions Required: The authors are requested to revise the manuscript in response to the reviewers' and editor's comments. The revised manuscript may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation.

  3. Rejected: The manuscript is not accepted for publication because it does not meet the journal's standards or requirements.

The time required to reach a final editorial decision depends on several factors, including the number of review rounds, the extent of revisions required, and the authors' responsiveness to reviewers' comments. Under normal circumstances, the period from submission to the final editorial decision is estimated to be approximately 2–4 months.

The total time from submission to publication varies depending on the peer-review process, the quality and completeness of the manuscript, the authors' adherence to the journal's guidelines, the time needed to complete revisions, and the journal's publication schedule. Acceptance of a manuscript does not necessarily mean that it will be published immediately, as publication also depends on the journal's production schedule.

Authors are required to provide a valid and active email address and regularly monitor their registered email and OJS accounts to receive notifications regarding manuscript status, reviewer comments, revision requests, and editorial decisions.

Authors are expected to respond to revision requests and other editorial communications within the deadline specified by the editor. If an author fails to respond or submit the required revisions within 15 working days without providing an acceptable explanation or requesting an extension, the journal reserves the right to reject the manuscript or close the submission in accordance with its editorial policy.

The overall duration of the publication process may vary depending on the availability and responsiveness of reviewers, the authors' timely completion of revisions, and the editorial and production workload. JAD is committed to conducting the review process fairly, objectively, transparently, and in accordance with the principles of publication ethics.
